Behold, the long-awaited barn
Almost can’t believe it!
Last Friday, I got the call!
“Ms. Anderson, the crew is just about finished building your barn. Can you come do the walkthrough?”
Oh!
Didn’t realize they were coming out to Idyllwild Woods to do the do!
But do the do, they did.
Over the mountains and through the woods, the crew came and saw and built this beauty.
And because we are about four hours away, we called on my very kind father-in-law to go do the walkthrough. Get the keys. Hand over a hefty cashier’s check for the balance.
I could almost cry looking at it. I can feel the doorknob in my hand, the warmth of that sunbeam streaming in. Can almost smell the steely scent of the metal. Excited to actually set foot in it.
Tim (or, Tee-im, as it’s pronounced in Appalachia), the building inspector, will go out sometime this week to do his thing and close the permit.
We’re jonesing to take a load of construction stuff up - the first of many trips we’ll make to complete this move.
We’ll “camp” in the barn, probably bring the dogs so they can have their first experience of Idyllwild Woods, of what it’s like to roam 35 acres. (on leashes, of course) It’ll need to be warm enough that we don’t freeze our bippies off… there’s no heat (or electrical, or plumbing - yet).
It almost feels unreal - it’s the first big leap forward on the project in a while.
Thank you for being here from the start, and for all your support and encouragement.
We truly cannot wait to share this beautiful place with you.
xoxo
